Is The Bitcoin Bottom Almost In? Why The Turning Point Could Be Close

Is Bitcoin Close To A Market Bottom?

I believe Bitcoin is approaching a market bottom, with several key factors suggesting the turning point could arrive within the coming months. Firstly, the Bitcoin (ETF & Saylor hype) and AI narratives have run their course. Furthermore, capital rotation is imminent, and a bottom aligns with my previous predictions for this cycle. It also aligns with the September/October time frame. I called the previous cycle bottom in September 2022, which aligned perfectly with the outcome.

Looking Back: The Dynamics That Shaped The Previous Cycle

For many crypto investors, the previous cycle was a disappointment. However, if you were reading Sapphire Crypto, you would have been aware of a handful of altcoin victories. Several micro-caps within the Polkadot ecosystem rallied by an average of 25% after being identified. Taraxa rallied 2500% (25X) from my call. However, it has since collapsed, proving how fragile the micro-cap market is. This is why profit-taking remains prudent.

The biggest success story of the previous cycle was clearly Bonk, which I identified at a market cap of approximately $20 million. Despite the altcoin market being heavily oversold, Bonk is still up 10X from my call. So, yes, there were positive outcomes. However, they were few and far between. Centrifuge (CFG) was another project I wrote about that performed strongly, especially during the recent downtrend. As mentioned, the altcoin filtering has commenced.

The altcoin market will see a large percentage of its composition fall away and ultimately collapse. However, certain established, strong projects are likely to see capital rotate into their ecosystems. In most cases, it will be a case of the strong getting stronger and the weak getting weaker. This will not be absolute, but it’s a general trend. As mentioned in a post on Hive, altcoin investors should now watch for a very specific pattern.

Bitcoin & AI: The Two Forces That Defined The Previous Cycle

The introduction of the Bitcoin ETF had a significant impact on the previous cycle. In many ways, Bitcoin dominated the cycle more than usual. Bitcoin rallied from just below $16K to $125K, an extraordinary move for an asset of its size. However, altcoins didn’t follow the same trajectory. There was a brief spike, but it was short-lived. This was primarily due to limited liquidity. Not only was Bitcoin absorbing additional liquidity, but a new contender entered the space.

Much of the liquidity initially destined for the altcoin market was sidetracked by the AI narrative. The AI sector saw enormous gains in the previous cycle. Crypto-based AI projects were the first to explode. However, that was many years ago. During the previous cycle, TradFi took its turn for AI-related gains. An AI crash from current levels would not indicate industry failure, but a typical cyclical move for an asset class that has experienced enormous gains.

Exchange / Buy / Sell Crypto

The Michael Saylor hype has now been exhausted, especially since he became overly aggressive in my opinion and exposed BTC to models I don’t necessarily approve of. With both narratives having run their course, altcoins are the obvious next move for capital rotation. Of course, Bitcoin will still lead the move upward, as altcoins still require a leader. However, altcoins are heavily oversold, and even quality projects have suffered major market-cap devaluations.

My Bitcoin Bottom Thesis Is Looking Increasingly Likely

A couple of years ago, I predicted that Bitcoin would bottom at around 50% to 60% from its most recent all-time high. At current levels, Bitcoin is sitting within this range. However, I expect BTC to explore this range extensively, indicating the potential for further downside. However, given the time frame, I believe the bottom is almost in. As I mentioned a few months ago, I would consider a buy between $48K and the low $50K region for fresh accumulation.

Bitcoin could temporarily dip below $48K. However, I believe it would be relatively short-lived if it did. Furthermore, waiting for that region to be triggered could be incredibly risky. Capturing absolute bottoms is incredibly difficult and almost impossible. The low $50K zone represents a fairly safe zone in my opinion for fresh accumulation. The time frame of an investment made at this particular point in the journey should be a few years.

Historically, investors should consider 2028 to 2029 a healthy maturation level where profits are likely to be in the hundreds of percent for Bitcoin, and significantly higher for altcoins, given the expected capital rotation. A high tide no longer necessarily lifts all boats, and altcoin selection is now more important than in previous cycles. I will address the chart patterns investors should be looking for in a future post, as I believe this can help with risk management and future gains.

Final Thoughts

It has been a long and hard road for altcoin investors. However, the start of a fresh cycle brings hope and optimism. I will, however, stress the importance of selecting the right altcoin projects again. Choosing the wrong investments can be even more detrimental this time around than in the previous cycle.
