Gradient Network Explained – Solana’s AI Edge Compute Infrastructure

Gradient Network is a decentralized infrastructure network (DePIN) built on Solana that focuses on edge computing and AI protocols. Edge computing speeds up the distribution of collected data, making it highly efficient for real-time AI applications and data collection. The protocol allows users to share their idle computing power in exchange for future crypto rewards. Participants download the Sentry Node, a lightweight, privacy-focused extension that helps them earn rewards.

Why Solana Is Still Hot Property In Crypto And Blockchain Investing

Solana was a top performer in 2023 and will continue to deliver in 2025. As I mentioned in 2022, I expected Solana to be the Ethereum of the current cycle. In many ways, this is the case, and I expect Solana and its ecosystem to continue producing significant gains as the bull market matures. Some of the hottest airdrops have come out of Solana. Jupiter, Grass, and UpRock come to mind.

Gradient Network is another Solana-based DePIN project, similar to Grass, that aims to generate passive income. Just as users can download the Grass extension to mine points for upcoming airdrops and future passive income, the Gradient extension offers a similar outcome. DePIN mining is one of the most viable entry-level opportunities in crypto.

Imagine earning hundreds or thousands of dollars just by downloading a single extension. Many miss these opportunities because they feel they are too good to be true. However, contrary to these beliefs, many generate a healthy income by mining DePIN tokens. Those who missed the Grass Stage 1 airdrop can still participate in Stage 2, as we are only in the initial stages and have many months left to mine points.

Like Nodepay and Grass, Gradient is similar in that users create an account, download a browser extension, and then allow it to run in the background. These opportunities are entirely passive once activated.

A simple way to increase daily points is to leave your laptop running 24/7. The extension will only mine points when the device is on. It doesn’t need to be actively used. However, it must be powered up and on. One can assign an alternative laptop for dedicated DePIN mining and let it run 24/7. In hindsight, I should have done this for Grass during the initial stage. I have since adjusted and am keen to see the results at the end of Stage 2.

I run multiple nodes on multiple devices, including Gradient. This way, at least one of my laptops will remain on almost permanently. This boosts the points earned, simultaneously increasing the value of the airdrop. The Gradient UI is pretty sleek and easy to navigate. Users can also build a referral network, which helps create an impressive DePIN of nodes. Users earn points and EXP.

To get started, download the official Sentry Node extension and follow the standard setup procedure to run the node in the background. Pin the application to your toolbar so that you can periodically check that it is running correctly. For optimal performance, leave your PC on for as long as possible, or, like in my case, allocate an old device to run as a 24/7 DePIN miner.

What Makes Gradient Network Different From Other DePIN Projects?

Although there are many similar DePIN applications, such as Grass and Kaisar Network, Gradient is unique in that it has serious backing from venture capital. Heavyweights such as Pantera Capital, HSG, and Multicoin Capital are all backers of this DePIN project. The inclusion of venture capital investments usually acts as a very strong sentiment driver.

Investors and potential investors view this form of investment as a sign of credibility, often leading to positive outcomes in early adoption and initial token sales. Solana is a good example of a project that initially experienced strong VC backing and went on to experience enormous success.

Risks And Limitations Of Gradient Network – What Users Should Know Before Joining

As mentioned, venture capital is a key component in securing a positive outlook regarding investors. However, it is important to note that, as in many other strong cases, it is not necessarily a guarantee of success, especially for an upcoming TGE (Token Generation Event). Several Solana-based DePINs were launched in 2024 and 2025, only to vanish without so much as an explanation.

This, unfortunately, is an unavoidable risk and part and parcel of the crypto industry, at least in the formative years. There is a chance that the project will never go to market. However, given the VC backing, it is less likely than in other potential DePIN projects. However, participants and node operators must understand the inherent risks of this particular niche.

The positive aspect regarding Free-to-Use applications is that there is usually no significant loss of capital. The loss may be related to the running costs of the devices in use. However, these devices are usually on most of the day anyway. Overall, the risk is low, but users should be aware of it. Best Alternatives To Gradient Network In The DePIN And AI Compute Space

The AI compute sector is one of the most saturated niches within the DePIN space, as most bandwidth-sharing DePIN models either incorporate AI or have branched out into it. The most obvious alternative to Gradient Network is Grass, which reached a billion-dollar market cap in 2025, demonstrating that DePIN can acquire meaningful adoption. Interested parties can still mine GRASS points in 2026, which will later be converted to GRASS tokens.

It is important to note that GRASS is actively traded on multiple exchanges, including Gate and MEXC, as well as on various Solana DEXs, such as Jupiter and Raydium. Another strong contender in the space is Kaisar Network. Active participants are still mining KAI tokens as points. The conversion ratio and TGE are still to be announced. However, the initial airdrop is likely imminent.

Teneo Protocol is another DePIN project turning real-time data into AI intelligence. It focuses on extracting social media data previously unavailable to the Web3 space. Teneo is much like Kaisar in that it is yet to launch its token and initial airdrop. Both projects are built on Peaq, and their respective token launches are widely anticipated by DePIN and Peaq enthusiasts.

Final Thoughts

Those who have experienced the power of DePIN through previous airdrops like Grass are likely to jump on Gradient. When earning becomes this easy, it’s difficult to ignore, regardless of your opinion. Gradient is a recent addition to my ever-increasing arsenal of DePIN nodes.
