Why I’m Trading Crypto Again & The Best Exchanges To Use

Finding New Investment Ideas: Why The HODLer & Trader Mindsets Require Different Strategies

I haven’t been that active in actual trading for some time now. I had chosen to focus on building passive income mechanisms, research, and creating content. However, looking back on many of my predictions and trade ideas over the past few months has encouraged me to look at day trading again. I generally trade with very low leverage, usually not exceeding 5X, as I am well aware of how quickly this market can turn.

I have pretty much set up what I wanted in terms of passive mechanisms, so I am quite eager to get back into trading. I have done a few trades in the interim, but for the most part, I have been buying as a HODLer and not a trader. A lot of people who are new to financial markets don’t factor this dynamic into their decisions. They also tend not to process what they hear or read through this basic understanding.

Buying as a HODLer is very different from buying as a trader, and yet many interpret all trades from a single perspective. For instance, a “trader mindset” will interpret someone buying just before a dip as missing it. However, a long-term buyer recognizes the value and will most likely buy again in the following week or month. This would enable them to purchase more at a further discount.

You really need to understand and correctly assess the objective of the individual in question. Sometimes a short-term trade doesn’t necessarily go as planned, and in my case, I extend my time horizon. However, this is usually accomplished through purchasing assets that have long-term potential—in other words, buying as a HODLer. For example, an asset like Bitcoin will very likely return to previous highs, given enough time.

Successful Crypto Trading Requires Constant Analysis

Whether it’s an intra-day trade, a day trade, or a swing trade, up-to-date analysis is essential. This becomes even more important in the world of crypto due to increased volatility. I guess in recent times pretty much “everything” is volatile. As I mentioned in a recent post, Murphy will always arrive on the day you skip your daily habits. You have to remain constant, even during the boring and uneventful periods. This is usually where most traders slip up.

Exchange / Buy / Sell Crypto

A sideways market often breaks its pattern with a violent move. This can be to the upside or the downside, depending on the market sentiment at that time. One of the best ways for new traders to develop an edge is to make use of platforms like TradingView and CoinGlass. Both platforms offer free versions, whereas more experienced traders can opt for a paid subscription with access to additional tools. You can’t enter the market blind.

A New Chapter In My Crypto Investing Journey

I am really looking forward to trading again! Trading with modest leverage can be extremely powerful in the crypto market. However, if you are new to trading and ignorant of technical and other forms of analysis, it is best to spend your time learning alongside a practice demo account. This will help a lot and let you experience being liquidated without losing a cent. Unfortunately, you won’t make anything, but it’s an essential part of the learning curve.

I kicked off some live trading today with Fantom (FTM) and closed two quick trades within an hour or two, resulting in a 6% profit. Not a bad start, but I know how quickly this market can turn on you. Trading leveraged products helps to secure reasonable gains relatively speedily. However, the flipside of the coin is a little bitter to swallow, which is why inexperienced traders should use a practice account first before just jumping in!

Where I Trade Crypto In 2026 & The Best Cryptocurrency Exchanges

When it comes to trading, particularly leveraged futures, I tend to favor Bybit. This is primarily for two reasons. Firstly, Bybit has deep liquidity, and secondly, the platform offers a wide array of products and assets to trade. For example, one of my favorite products in a bull market is inverse perpetual futures. Binance and Bitget are also often chosen by traders for similar reasons to Bybit.

Traders who rely on automated trading such as trading bots are likely to choose platforms like Pionex and KuCoin, as they offer an extensive range of products in this particular trading niche. When trading micro-cap cryptocurrencies and relatively undiscovered cryptocurrencies, I turn to Gate and MEXC, as they both support thousands of assets, especially those you will struggle to find on larger platforms such as Binance and Bybit.

Final Thoughts

Trading can be an exciting and lucrative pursuit. However, it must be done correctly and with the appropriate tools, data, strategy, and discipline. Trading without market data is unwise and significantly increases risk. Even with tools and information at your disposal, it can be tricky and difficult to navigate this market.
